School Visits

Somsaard Pitaya Son School
Kalasin, Thailand
Our first stop in Northeastern Thailand was Somsaardpitayasan School in Kalasin Province, about 500 kilometers from Bangkok. Arriving around 2pm, we were warmly welcomed by the whole school and treated everyone to coconut ice cream made locally by a retired teacher. After a short equipment-giving ceremony, we joined students for basketball and soccer — a fun, memorable day for everyone..

Why We Visited
We visited Somsaardpitayasan School to bring sports equipment to students in Kalasin Province, hoping to give them better tools and opportunities to stay active.
What We Provided
We provided sports equipment ahead of our visit to support the school's athletic programs, with hopes of further helping restore their basketball court in the future.
What We Learned
Visiting on a normal school day, I got to play basketball with the kids, which inspired me to do more. I noticed many students played sports barefoot — I learned it's because their school shoes are their only pair, and they didn't want to wear them down. We'd love to find a way to provide everyone with sneakers so they don't have to play without protection.
