School Visits

Wat Pichai Yaram School
Chumphon, Thailand
Our second trip took place during mid-term break, October 10th–16th, heading south to Chumphon. The first school we visited was Wat Pichaiyaram School, about 500 kilometers from Bangkok. We were warmly welcomed by Principal Yuenyong Desamut, teachers, and over 80 students from 7th and 8th grades. We learned the campus needed major renovation — limited space had forced the school to convert sports areas like the basketball court into classrooms, though a new building under construction would allow them to restore those spaces soon.

Why We Visited
We visited Wat Pichaiyaram School as part of our mission to reach students in under-resourced communities across Thailand, hoping to give them better tools and spaces to grow — both in the classroom and on the field.
What We Provided
To bring more energy and fun into the students' daily routine, we donated new footballs along with a variety of sports gear designed to keep them moving, engaged, and enjoying physical activity.
What We Learned
Wat Pichaiyaram is a large school with over 600 students but only 9.5 rai of space — far more limited than Somsaardpitayasan School in Kalasin, which has a quarter of the students but more than twice the space. Still, FollowThru was glad to help improve the school's sports equipment standards, and we hope the new classroom building finishes soon so students can reclaim their sports spaces.
